Its a battle flag. If your state has ever sent a regiment to war, you got the Stars and Bars added to your state flag.

Not every state used it. It was just something that caught around in some places. Rather then the state flags, since our regiments were parted by state, we set up a standard battle flag.
If you're from the Northern states, the Stars and Bars is treated like some kind of NAZI symbol. Truth is that its meant as a call to arms. If you raise it then you're supposed to be willing to take up arms for your State.

Plus, it's on the
General Lee.
I grew up on the Dukes. Especially Catherine Bach.

Mmm... short shorts and pantyhose. Plus, a Merle Haggard voice-over. What's not to like?

... and Coy Duke. BTW, I know it was Waylon Jennings; IDK why I said Merle Haggard.

Interesting. I'd always thought it was just a way of giving the CSA the thumbs up.
Personally, I've always preffered the Stars and Bars to the Stars and Stripes. I think it looks much better.

No it isn't

Why?

The basic design is identical, it's only the numbers that are different.

I think you're confusing some things. By "Stars and Bars," they are referring to this:
rather than this:
The term "Stars and Bars" has been applied to both.

It can be both easily enough. Its also a reminder of the cost of freedom, a reminder of what happens when the people of a nation can't work together and a reminder of a time when people carried a lot more pride for their state and country.
Truth is, its a symbol so it can mean any number of things equally.

Huh? That's the first time I've heard the battle flag referred to as the Stars and Bars (which was my objection on both counts).

If the battle flag is the one with the blue X on it, then that's the one I was reffering to.
