If it was as cut and dry as "he raped her, ran away then got caught again" I'd say go for gold and send him to court.
But if its true what he says about the DA offering him a deal to get him to confess then going back on it... well thats just a dick move and can probably get him off. I hate corrupt lawyers and politicians.

They didn't go back on a deal, he confessed to a lesser crime, and then cut and run first chance he got.
