The Beeb censored that ep?

We've got gorier stuff in Saturday morning cartoons than that.
No, the Beeb showed it whole, it was Sky One who cut it. And to be fair, it was in the 5pm slot, when people were sitting down to eat.

Still and all, that seemed to be relatively tame thing to censor.

Damn right. We're required by law to spend at least 8 hours a day in a pub.

Who knows that it's a trick? Sisko, Garak, and a few top brass? I just watched the episode last week, and it seemed pretty well contained. And there's always plausable deniability. I doubt there could be definitive proof this ever happened, leaving the Romulans with little more than a nagging suspicion.

They found the holodeck chip though, right? OK, it was next to destroyed but if they were able to still play the thing then surely there must be a small chance that upon a real close investigation, some evidence will remain that it's a faaaake?

I think the implication was that while you could still make out the basics of what was going on the fine details, which would lead to it being ID'd as a fake, would be lost.

Garak said that any imperfections would be indistinguishable to damage sustained in the explosion.

Man, that episode really solidified Garak as a badass and far more then the usual secondary character. If only the minor characters in other series got that treatment.
