Wow, I go to sleep and the thread explodes.
Due to real life getting busy for me lately, I don't really have time to keep this debate going. So consider my points conceded for now. When I have more time I may consider debating it again. But in the meantime I see I'll have to do more reasearch on the US system. I can see that I got a lot of things wrong about it.
In any case, I enjoyed the debate so far. It's nice to have a rational right-winger to discuss matters with, rather than one of the stereotypical loons.

I can say the same thing going the other way.

Considering that I'm usually neither "left" nor "right", I can say that it's definitely nice to have rational people on both sides to talk to.

Edited for the sad fact of day-to-day life.

How sadly true.

Yeah, I've run across some far left lunatics a few times. Those guys are just as bad as the far-right.
On a completely random note, where is "Tyyr" from, anyway?

Personaly, I wouldn't generaly consider myself "left". In terms of most of Europe, I'm fairly centre, with only minor leftist leanings.
In terms of US politics, though, I may as well be a freakin' commie.

Yeah, "centrist" in Europe is "Marxist" in America.
IIRC, "Tyyr" is a spelling variation on the Teutonic god of war, who allowed Fenrir to bite off his hand.

More or less. America is pretty far right compared to most other countries. Even the Democrats would be considered right wing in Europe.

I see. Thanks.

I know I'm a bit right-wing, even for America, thus why I add the "militant" part to "Militant Libertarian Socialist" when describing my political leanings.

I would never have called your outlook "right-wing," Tsu.
And doesn't the fact of being "militant" by its nature impose on the freedoms of others which are posited by Libertarianism?

See, my Libertarianism only extends to personal freedoms. I couldn't find a better term for it, basically.
