Well, I was reading the Young Jedi Knights and Thrawn Trilogy before actually having finished watching the Original Trilogy. So yeah. To me they matter more than the movies.

Really? What got you to read these books before watching the movies?

Well, I had seen bits and pieces of the OT, but aside from Return of the Jedi-the very first piece of SW media I had ever seen-I hadn't seen all of A New Hope or Empire Strikes Back all the way through, or even all of them. Like I'd seen maybe 75-80% of ANH in chunks. I'd sit down, see it on the TV and watch some... and then I'd see that some other program was on, like an episode of TNG I'd seen about a dozen times and turn it to that. :P

Cut to 1995 and I walk into a bookstore at the local Lilac Mall. The 1990's were... not a good time for me, let's just say. And I spot the first Young Jedi Knights novel. And I pick it up, leaf through it and buy it. And... I read it. Multiple times. And I started looking into the other SW novels. And then finally I went back and saw the rest of ANH and ESB.

Thanks for indulging my curiosity. :)

No problem. :) I've always felt I've had one of the more... unique entryways into the Star Wars franchise. ;)
