Well the Southern perception of those of you on the north side of the Mason Dixon side of the line, here after referred to simply as, "Damn Yankees," are as a bunch of uncultured, unwashed, self-important, liberal douche bags. Those to the west of us are a bit odd but agreeable, at least until you get to the coast. The left coast are Damn Yankees taking it to a whole new level.

Sounds very similar to the rest of the world's opinion of the same part of the US, if you replace "liberal" with "far right". Of course, that's the rest of world's opinion of the rest of the US as well - it's just a matter of degree.

Never having had grits is a point of pride for me. We have cultured grits - polenta. For someone from the deep South to call the North uncultured, you must think we don't have the wheel yet. It's funny, because that's pretty much the same way that us normal people think of the rebs.

Lets not forget the time I went on pass from the Army to my friend Buddy's family farm in Miscokee, OK. When I saw the confederate flag flying over the farm, I hid my Star of David. Of course, they really didn't care too much about that as within three minutes of meeting me, one of Buddy's relatives said, "You a Yankee, ain't ya?"

That was my nickname for the next four days. Redneck as hell......but cool as hell too
