The E-wing had problems with the R2 units. They had to build the R7 astromechs for it!
Too advanced, too many problems IMHO. The X-wing is the perfect balance.

Yeah that's the reason I'm not a huge fan of the TIE Defender. Too damn expensive. TIE Advances aren't far behind in usefulness but tons cheaper.

The guy hadn't been hit during the trench run. He was just about to run into a virtual wall of enemy fire. Even if he had ejected, inertia would have carried him into the middle of it anyway.
I know, the point is in a different environment but same type of hit ejecting would have made sense and saved his life.

In the same situation he wouldn't have crashed into the Death Star. Thus ejecting would make no sense, as he could have attempted to get the ship under control and withdraw.

Well, thank you.

I have less problems with the Defender than the E-wing, but I see your point there. Avengers would be able to fill the role well while saving a ton of credits.

A single TIE Defender could take out several Advance TIEs before they even got within laser range. On top of that, the TIE-D had far more powerful shielding and armor over the TIE-A. Comparing them is pointless.
On cost though, you hit the problem on the head. Three TIE-A or a single TIE-D. Also, the base TIEs were simple to fly and required little training and maintenance. The TIE-D flipped this on its head. High cost in development, pilot and crew training, weapons, shielding and maintenance.

My experience is in X-Wing Alliance and I never felt that picking a TIE Advance ever handicapped me too greatly over the TIE Defender. Defender has better maneuverability which admittedly is more important in a dog fight but if I remember right the Advance had better speed. While yes the Defender is better the Advance isn't that bad. Far as the Avenger goes I've never 'flown' one so can't really speak on it.

Oh, don't mistake me. The TIE-Advanced is a good ship. However, the TIE-Defender is a great ship.

The HH wasn't a bad ship. They did pour out a lot of warheads IIRC.

I've heard of the E wing, and the K-wing but never seen them. Anyone got pics?

"I like it... I just wish it had more hardpoints."
"No problem. Just let me get a spar and a rivet gun."
