Always depends on who you ask...

It depends on the relevent observed or described capabilities of the opposing factions, as with any versus.

Such discussion is, however, prohibited on this forum.

I know, and I have no intention of starting such a discussion anyway... :)

Since 2004 IIRC, I mostly post in the military usergroup now though. The boards insanity has started to get to me.

I really like SDN. Their admin is an asshole but the site is fun. I don't see why it matters who wins the vs debate its still fun to have and its pretty obvious who the true winner is. A much more interesting debate though is the Imperium vs the Empire. that thread was a good 120 pages or so and I read the whole thing lol
That's because it's not about fun anymore. It's become something to hitch your star to and wave your dick around on the internet and that IMO is SDN's biggest flaw. I can handle the assholes every once and a while but it gets very irritating when your involved in a "debate" and every newbie jumps in to make a name for themselves so they can get Mikes attention. That and if someone gets a wiff that you might be supporting Trek (I restrict myself to providing relevenat military info) then your in for a long drawn out battle in which every sentence is dissected. Batman is notorious for that sort of thing.

Aye, I've noticed that myself. Hence why I've barely posted since joining, and just restricted myself to viewing.
With luck, it's just a phase that'll pass. SDN was a great forum in many respects in the past, and I'd rather not have it go down in flames.

That's too bad. I really wanted to start a Homeworld v B5 debate. They have the same style of warfare. Both treat space dog fighting like it should be. Homeworld has the benefit in spontaneous hyperdrive and vastly superior construction but B5 has more powerful weapons. But knowing my luck they already have a thread on that.

There was supposedly a B5 mod in the works for Homeworld, but it got canned. Too bad, the Homeworld Engine would really have suited B5.

I wouldn't doubt it. There was a Star Wars and Star Trek mod. B5 seems only a logical step.

I've run a quick search, and as far as I can tell that's one of the few Vs scenarios they haven't done yet.

It'll get locked because no one will be able to come up with numbers for Homeworld that are not based on game mechanics.

Hmm probably. Maybe Descent Freespace would be a better choice. That 'bible' they wrote actually has real info in it.
