So, we have the Paladin. We created a supply outpost station and a freightor to keep the Paladin out on longer missions. Anybody think of anything else we'd need support wise?

Don't really think we need much else. The modern UFP has just about everything. The only thing missing was a battleship. So, we built one.

The only design decision we made that I disagree with was giving it 4 nacelles. Its really fucking hard to design a ship with 4 nacelles and neek it a practical design that does its best to shelter the necelles from enemy fire. Even if we made the second set smaller than the primary as we said we might since they are just a back up it still isnt an easy feat.

A ship with two nacelles can cover them much easier.

Honestly I think we traded to much in terms of protection for the added reliabity of 4 nacelles.

The 4 nacelle design was added for surviability. Nacelles are common targets in battle. We have 4 instead of 2 and we have ours armored. If I recall it was a tough choice (at least for me) but the pay is better then the cost.

I wonder why the idea of retractable nacelles never occured to us. Deploy them for warp travel, then retract them into a specially shielded area of the ship for protection.
