Re: Ideas for new classes of starships

Sok'Cha Class (Klingon Imperial Vessel)
Battle Cruiser
(720m x 780m x 60m)
12 decks
10x Heavy Disruptor Cannons (7 fore, 3 aft)
7x Transphasic Torpedo Tubes (5 fore, 2 aft)
Traditional Armor: 45cm
Shields: 5 million TJ
Cloaking Device
Normal Cruise: Warp 12
Max Cruise: Warp 15
By 2401, the Klingon High Command is beginning to realize the deficit they are in power wise. Many of the nearby stellar powers including the docile Federation have begun fielding much stronger ships, while he Klingons have relied mainly on the Vor'cha, and Negh'var classes since the Dominion War. Now however they felt the need for a new warship. Rather than simply resizing either class as normal, instead they go back to the proverbial drawing board to create a new style of cruiser incorporating all of the recently developed technology.
In 2405, a finalized design was created, using the best technologies known to the Klingon Empire. Recorces previously spent on BoP, and other oder warships still inservice was haulted to provide appropriate materials and funding to the Sok'Cha class.
It took two and a half years to successfully construct te ship, and in 2408 the KIV Hek'Vaugh warped into combat to expand the empire.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

As an incoming nemy I'd love to slice off those wings. Make it double-strutted if neccesary, but people will notice the seemingly rather frail connection of the wings to the body and the connection nacelle/wings. Anyway, Why even wings?

Not bad, but the wings seem far too fragile for my liking.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
What use do the wings have? If used for mounting weapons on, you are using too little surface area. If it is about keeping the nacelles away from the ship because they may be volatile or dangerous, consider redesigning the technology behind the nacelles, the reaction process or install something on the hull that absorbs the shock from the nacelles blowing up and keeps the ship intact. For now, they scream HIT ME. And if I could, I'd hit it.
ON another note, lateral and aft weapons? This seems straight forward, but i wouldn't like that, no matter how agile I may be. And as an enemy, I would attack it from the top. no weapons ou there tat may reach me.

In design, the wings look far too....curved and perfected, to much like a Romulan design. It looks pretty similar to a slightly altered Norexan. The wings need to be more square, more bulky.
Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
I'm curious as well, why wings? It's not like you need lift in space.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
I suppose it could be aesthetic in purpose, many Klingon ships have wings of some form. The Vorcha, K'Tinga and Negh'Var's had them in a form, even though they had little purpose but to mount the nacelles.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
As well as thicker wings, it needs significantly larger nacelles IMO.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
the wings were added because they were a charecteristic from the other Klingon ship designs i saw at
http://www.st-intelligence.com/ship_dat ... t_card.php
they are around 10m thick as they stand now, but i can appreciate the point.
what does IMO stand for anyway, I should probably find out.

Don't worry, man; it took me forever to remember all those damn acronyms. Never been a fan of acronyms, myself, and texting has only made it worse... There was a cellphone commercial a few years back with a kid spouting a bunch of lettered acronyms at the bewildered mother. I kept waiting for the mother to smack her upside the head screaming, "speak ENGLISH you little puke!" or something similar.
