We've had rain and some wind since about 1:00 pm (local,) but we aren't expected to get the real meat of the matter until early tomorrow morning. By then, it might be a Cat 1.

I live in Virginia Beach and the hurricane hit us hard. Not nearly as hard AA most thought. If you lived here you would think we would have sunk into the ocean or something.
The shoreline got hammered naturally and a few died. One guy had a tree land on his car while driving, which IMO sucks the big one. Not because he died but the billion in one chance of getting a tree to land on you while driving.

McAvoy, that reminds me of the surprise storm/tornado that hit NYC last September. There was one death, and that occurred because a woman ran outside to move her car from under the trees, only to have a tree branch fall on the car's roof crushing her. One in a million that you die by the very thing you tried to prevent.
Irene hit us, but not nearly as hard as it hit North Carolina, Virginia and New Jersey. All I seen was rain, wind blowing trees, and power lines smashing and sparking.
