Bullshit. The Israeli barrier is less than a quarter of the length of the US-Mexico border, is 90 per cent fence, and is in much more densely populated territory. It's also not intended to stop illegal immigrants, who would simply swarm over or through it and disappear into the the desert, were it in the southern United States. As a passive defence it's next to useless, and would be completely useless even for its intended purpose (to make terrorist incursions more difficult) without regular patrols.

Anyway, it's simply unfeasable to prevent them to cross. I'd rather if the US tried to find a way to make it not advantaging for the businesses to hire these workers. Although, I have a hard time determining what can beat long hours with little pay, and not being registered as a high-capita employer when it comes to business rules and regulations.

Don't speak to topics about which you know nothing. I have no idea how the GWN treats illegal aliens (or would, if anyone wanted to go there,) but you obviously have no idea how we treat with ours. Deep and my wife are both teachers, and further my wife teaches in an inner-city district with huge numbers of immigrants from all over Latin America - both legal and otherwise. Even if I just restrain the discourse to the areas covered by her specific field, I could rattle off a vast array of benefits which illegal immigrants get on the U.S.' taxpayers' dime.

Further, they don't reply to the U.S. census, so the funding for the programs of which they take advantage is diminished because of the skewed lack of census response.

There are ways to secure our boarders if we really wanted too. But the bleeding hearts don't want to do it. And the idea of tossing an illegal immigrant into prison is nuts too. We still have to support them.

That's my biggest problem with illegals. They benifet from living in the States, but have none of the obligations the rest of us do. They don't pay taxes, nor can even be drafted to military service. We're obliged to defend their civil rights (ie police), provide medical care and so on.

(And your argument about a draft is stupid. When was the last time a draft occured in the US? US military have evolved to a point where having prisonner-soldiers is actually detrimental to the whole esprit de corp)

Solka, I'm not sure what country your in, but before you profess to know more about those of us who live here, please do a bit of research.

ANYBODY who walks into a hospital is entitled to medical care. You don't need an ID, insurence or anything. You walk in, give them a bogus name and SSN number, and you get treated, then given a bill when they check out that doesn't get paid. And unless they come in for something suspiscious like a gunshot wound, there is no reason to call the police or immigration to find out if they are legal or not.

Yes, even illeagals have certain inalienable civil rights. We had a big trip in Hawaii recently where two farm owners were sent to prison for housing and working illegals for unfair wages. They were investigated for a couple of years and then sent through the legal system. As a result, some of the workers are getting rushed green cards and are now elligable to stay in the US, since they started having babies as soon as they got here. Thus, these folks now can't be deported since they have "anchor babies". Who pays for the man hours of the police investigation, or for all the work that has to be done now on their behalf? that doesn't even begin to cover things like education like Mikey mentioned.

And before you call the draft "stupid", every American male is required to register for the draft on their 18th birthday. Even though we haven't drafted since Vietnam, its still on the books. That means illegals get to come and live in the US, and enjoy the privialiges, but not share the responsabilties.
