I don't know how long this Pandora craze will last.

But I bet I'd get to the front of the line to get a table on crowded game nights if I made up a Na'vi homebrew 40K army for people to shoot at. Mattell even seems to have a range of toys in the right size.

Actually, if the old Kroot Codex is still legal you might be able to make a reasonable counts as army. That list has the advantage that even if you lose against Kroot you'll have gotten to kill bunches of them.

Kroot don't sound too bad. They've got a strong melee focus and use lots of beasts. Have the bows count as rifles and you're in business.

Alternately maybe a chaos army could work too.

Chaos? I'll grant that I haven't actually seen the movie, but they sure don't look like they're wearing power armor. Do they have some kinda psychic shields or something?

Also, I found this on GWs website through Google.

I think it's a 4th edition update to the more elaborate 3rd edition Kroot Codex. It isn't entirely clear how it would interface with fifth edition rules. However It would seem that all the upgrades leave the troops as troops. Which might actually make the list a credible threat.

Don't think about power armor. Think about stats. A ten foot tall alien is likely to be tougher vs. human weapons than a regular human. Stronger as well, etc. Alternately could go with a pure daemon force.

I think that, dare I say it, they're even worse.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Acording to the chart you're at least getting close. For the actual 9 foot version I'd say she crosses the line.

Defnitely. At least Blackstar knew that he was just making it up. These people honestly believe they're reincarnated Na'vi.

I wonder what these people thought they were before they had any knowledge of the concept of Avatar-verse.

I'm sure they thought they were people... :bangwall:

Or maybe they thought they were reincarnated cats...

In a sense, I can understand why they want to think this way. This world apparently has so many things wrong, that a what seems to be a new, unscathed planet seems like paradise. Asa for the animal parts, plenty of other people did and still do. in this case the whole shaman part of imbueing animal parts into yourself is changed or disappeared.
I suppose it is some sort of counterbalance to all negative forces and character traits in their personality. As plenty of board members can attest to, fighting yourself and your own character and habits can be very tiresome. Appropriating other elements to balance these negative traits out might be easier than battling them.

...dear god. My faith in humanity just took another blow. How the FUCK can people be taking a movie, abiet a really good movie like this, like its a new Bible?

REINCARNATED NA'VI? First off, the film took place in 2154, how can they consider themselves reincarnated Na'vi when they probably wouldn't even know of Earth's existance? Secondly, they must be taking drugs stronger than those that made Katamari Damanci. Third...these people deserve to kill themselves off in an ironic fashion to remove themselves from the gene pool.

Oh god....Tyyr, I can't thank you enough for linking to that LJ site. It's a fucking goldmine of hilarity.

Check this out.
New blog: Na'Vi Anti-Defamation League

I'm hoping to start a broader discussion on what it's like in the initial states of a new religious movement, and the challenges we experience from allies and enemies. I detailed some ways you can help in my profile, but what I need now is some starting material. Where have you seen the worst anti-Na'vitism/anti-fictionkin speech happening?
