No, but as Rage said, it's less about having a go at any individuals, or songs, or bands, etc.

It's about people in general being tired of tasteless pop music, and it just so happened that Joe took a hit for it. They congratulated him for making the number 2 spot, and allegedly have invited Simon Cowell to MC at the free concert...also, the profits they'll make from the mass-purchase ...quite a bit of it is going to charity. :)

As far as Joe goes, you could make an argument of "easy come easy go". In any case I don't know that this depressed his sales figures, it just bumped up a different songs profits.

I don't much care for the bubblegum-pop music that comes from these shows. But did anyone stop to think that this song was going to be number one because that many people were spinning it and buying it? I mean, just because we don't like it doesn't mean much, because obviously that many people do. Remember, Simon Cowell just added an A-M to his collection because he knows better than anyone else what the most people will listen to.

Yup, it's not as if he's buying all these records himself.

I always have to laugh when failed contestants on "American Idol" snipe at Cowell by saying something to the effect of, "Well, that's jsut his opinion. What does he know?" Same with Gordon Ramsay. In either case, the man in question may be a jerk and no doubt - but both of them know enough about their field to be wildly succesful, far more than the person complaining about them.
