The Hero from what I've heard and seen is by far the best. I like it very much. But it isn't available in the US, but I would suggest that, if you could at all get it.

And I'm somewhat skeptical of Android, same as I am with windows mobile. most people in the UK dont trust either, and far prefer Symbian.

"unlimited montly data usage bolt on". There's a cracker. Unlimited montly data subject to fair use policy. Fair use policy equals either 500MB or 1GB (depending on provider). You use any more than that, you pay by the MB. How is that unlimited then, Mr Mobile Phone Service Providers???
I'm on the 'Three Network' now on pay as you go. For a £10 top up, you get 600 inclusive SMSs and 150MB of data (which lasts for three months before expiring if you haven't used it up). For a fiver, you get 25 inclusive SMSs and 150MB of data. If I'm careful, my mobile bill for a quarter will be £20. Happy Days

Orange's unlimited usage is fully unlimited, the dont even put a fair usage system on. And besides, I doubt I would actually use 1GB tbh if all i would do is sign on to a messenger programme.

Android is as good as Symbian from what I've seen of it. And I've used it a good bit.
But yeah, it is quite expensive...
harry-Not true, For verizon, it is unlimited, you could use 1TB of data and you would only get charged $30. A good deal IMO.

I get basic nationwide service (450 mins, unlimited nights & weekends), unlimited data & a selection of V-Cast video (unlimited also) and 500 texts a month in my bundle ---> just shy of $80/mo.
's far as I can tell, Verizon's idea of 'unlimited' agrees with the dictionary definition, though as I said I'm not THE most stringent tester of phone usage plans.

Really? What's to stop you using your HSPDA phone as a modem for home internet usage? I tell you what Kieran, if that's right, I'm having some of that!!! Do you have a URL where I could see this? Good lord, if this is true, I'm dropping my home ISP and will just use my phone as a modem for my laptop

Unlimited texting = UNLIMITED, I would know, I text A LOT.
Unlimited data = UNLIMITED, again, I use my dad's phone a lot, and use the internet a lot.
So yes, with verizon, Unlimited, means unlimited.
And yes, I can use my dad's phone as a modem at my house, and could only pay for the unlimited data. However, it may be slightly slower than you may want.

Actually, Orange's internet charges are incredibly confusing.

As far as I can determine, its £7.34 a month for 250mb (40,000 web pages) worth of fair usage.

Verizon's are incredibly simple, if you have unlimited, they don't even put it.

$110 US for my VZW service = two lines (both Dares) with unlimited calling to other VZW users, unlimited nights/weekends, 500 other minutes, (truly) unlimited internet and data.

The mobile networks over here are generally a lot tighter, unless your willing to pay £30 a month. I am not. I am only willing to pay £22 at most, if it gives me unlimited texts. If it was to give me unlimited data too, i'd love it. but it wont.

With four lines its about 200 a month for us, and I am planning on getting a data plan when I upgrade, so add another 30 to that, but I'll be paying the other 30 with half of my allowance. So, not that bad.

God, we should start a campaign here in the UK for something similar. I used to be with Vodafone and paid GBP15 a month for like 120 minutes of any network calls, 500 SMSs and 500MB of data. This was SIM only as I already had my TyTn2 bought outright. Now I'm with Three who are significantly cheaper BUT nowhere near as good as Vodafone/O2.
If the Three network is any good around your way, for an 18 month contract, you could get a Nokia E71 with 'unlimited' texts and mobile internet and 200 minutes of calls for GBP20 a month.
Here
Like I say though, if the Three network is cack round your way, you'd be better off sticking with what you know...
