He doesn't need an excuse for alcohol. Although he is trying very hard to try and give up. The worst thing is it often brings on a lot of takeaways. Neither my dad or my mum are particularly thin and healthy, and dad's blood pressure isn't exactly healthy either. However, my father is leaving the job soon. But I had no idea the shitty type of things social workers have to do. Proffesionals of all backgrounds all spit upon social works. Doctors hate them because they operate symptom, drug, cure. Social workers operate, signs, talk therapy and communication, healed. Doctors dont view social workers as actually doing anything. so everyone seems to spit upon social workers. you don't see doctors out there in the shit.

Social Workers do indeed get shit on a fair bit, I'm guilty of it myself but unfortunately that's often the case with the folks on the front line of any profession.

Aye, I do pity them for the crap they constantly get. Though I can understand why they get it. I don't think anyone would like a random guy showing up and pretty much saying you're an awful parent. No matter how politely you phrase it, it doesn't come out too nice.

Yeah I can see it from both sides. The families they deal with will naturally hate them for what they are doing. But the social workers have to do their jobs.
My Dad really hates them because about 20 years ago one of my older brothers was being bullied at school but didnt tell anyone, then one day it got so bad they ruptured a disk in his spine. Social workers pounced and accued my folks of child abuse with sweet fuck all evidence, threatened them, the works. Finally one of the kids involved let slip that they did it. Social workers didnt say sorry or anything. I wasnt born then but apparently thats the only time my brother can remember my Dad swearing at anyone.

Social workers out here are legally unable to actually accuse people of doing anything, someone at dad's place of work was recently "discharged" (fired) because he openly accused a family of child abuse and there was a court case. There was a lot of evidence to support it, but not enough to accuse. They have to have a shitload of evidence (I have seen a briefcase stuffed to the brim with sheets, and apparently it still wasn't enough for the courts) before they can even think about lifting a child.

That's how it is here in the U.S. The only thing they can do without evidence is come in and ask questions, and that's only if the parents allow them to, otherwise they can't do anything really.

You can come in and ask questions, you can request a court to allow intervention (councelling, play therapy etc) and if it really is shit then you ask the court with the evidence to lift the children or arrest the parents. Normally lift the children.
