Well, if I had holograms of hot chicks in MY quarters. They'd be naked, at least.

At least.
QFT.

WRT the use of holograms, yeah, it's dumb. Gods forbid they actualy use such tech in a role that may actualy provide a use.

They used a tabletop hologram in a briefing role in "The Last Outpost", and a life-sized one for comms in "For the Uniform", but that was it. Good ideas, but only as idea of the week.

A shame. Hell, even the technologicaly stagnant Imperium uses hololiths for all sorts of stuff, despite the fact that most of the time they don't work properly. Trek has perfectly good holograms, and they hardly ever use them. Typical Starfleet.

Thanks, Seafort. I forgot about those examples. IU, that makes the disuse of such tech even dumber, as it shows that the usage is extant - just ignored.

I'd have like to have seen the holodeck used as a 3D tactical display, similiar to what the Whitestar's had in Babylon 5.

They'd have been very useful for the large fleet actions we saw in DS9.

I don't think using the holodeck for that would have been a good idea - you need tac displays in the same area as the command centre, or you'd be reliant on intraship comms to control the ship. If those comms went down for whatever reason you'd be stuffed. It could, however, have been put to excellent use as a briefing room, a la the RotJ briefing.
