I don't think that had the same kind of personal impact for individuals here in the States. I will certainly remember that Hungary did an end-around of the Iron Curtain and effectively allowed East Germans to easily travel to West Germany, but it's not the same sort of "I will always remember what I was doing the moment I heard" recall.

I was home sick from school, and watching with my dad. Really brought home the point that space travel will always be dangerous.
