I've been shot with a tennis ball out of a tennis ball launcher... that hurt.

I got hit in the 'nads by an overhead shot from a guy whose serve was clocked at about 100 mph. I was down for a while.

Ouch, that had to hurt.

Yep, but thankfully my brain isolated itself from my motor function for a while.
PS It sucked double because I lost the point.

Your lucky you didn't lose your "other" point, if you know what I mean.
I have a friend got hit in the eye with a tennis ball. His eyeball popped into his skull. He had like four surgeries, and has a permanent 50 % vision loss in that eye.

*wince*
Who said tennis wasn't a violent sport?
Makes me wish I could play; it's hard to hold a tennis racket in one hand, and a cane in the other.

Along with golf, it can be one of the most frustrating things you can do. In addition, you can run (in lots of quick dashes) the same length as a marathon in a 5-set match.

Someone has suggested I try to take up surfing for excercise. What a glorious end that would be. Eaten by a damn shark or stung by jelly fish.

A hugely greater number of surfers are never bitten by a shark than those who are. I've been meaning to take up surfing; my soon-to-be sister-in-law just about has a revolving account at Ron-Jon and Hale Nala, so I think it's up to her to give out free lessons.

Great. So I PROBABLY won't get eaten by a shark. I'm very reassured now

Do you guys still have the same problem with tiger sharks that you did about 10 years ago? IIRC, they were beginning to come in pretty close on the southern shores, and a lot of people were making a fuss about doing anything to them because they may be aumakua.

Sharks don't have a lot to eat these days...
As for surfing, my mom was semi-pro when I was a kid. She's quite good.
Yes, that's right. I'm the son of a truck driver and a surfer. I'm not even sure there is a joke there, but it sure sounds weird, even to me.

Funny thing is, I've been body surfing since I was about 4 years old. Now they have these boogie-board things, and I can't grasp the concept.
