But you're hungry about an hour later. Still, delicious food.

I love Chinese food, but the prevalence of rice as well as sugar in the sauces means I have to stay away.

In fact, Chinese food is so well-liked, stereotypically, among American Jews that there's an old joke that pork is kosher as long as it's in fried rice. A town in central Jersey with a high concentration of Orthodox Jews has one or two very good strictly kosher Chinese restaurants.

Mark - ever go to Mama's Fish House on Maui?Without question the best seafodd I've ever had. The menu listed that particular day's fishermen by name.

I never did, but I've heard about it. Next trip to Maui, I'm looking forward to trying it.

I'll look it up too, if I ever get to travelling. I love seafood, cooked that is. Not a fan of sushi.

Not all sushi has raw fish I've come to learn. California rolls are safe.

In fact, sushi is vinagered rice. It's the sashimi that is raw fish, and is a component of sushi dishes. And I love all sushi.

I find some ethnic restaurants amusing. I went to an Itallian place once run by Thailanders and staffed by Tongans.

There's a Spanish restaurant in the centre of Dublin City, which is staffed by the most ridiculously west-Irish people I've ever encountered.

A lot of the pizzerias around here - especially the chain known ironically as "3 Brothers from Italy" - are staffed exclusively by Mexicans.

To be fair, I worked in a Chinese restaurant as a teenager.

A lot of the Chinese restaurants around here are staffed by genuine Chinese people. It's the other nationalities that have no real representatives.
