Personally I'm in the camp that advanced military designs should not be common knowledge.

Sometimes I wonder how the US media matches up with the old KGB in getting intelligence to foreign countries.

It's not just the US. During the Falklands War the BBC broadcast the fact that Argentine bombs were failing to detonate because they were hitting their targets before arming. Fortunately the Argies weren't listening. The Beeb also broadcast speculation that Goose Green had fallen while 2 Para were still at their jumping-off point for the attack - H Jones, somewhat predictably, went ballistic when he heard of it and vowed to sue the corporation for manslaughter.
Only two things are infinite - the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the universe: Albert Einstein.

The fact that he received a posthumous VC for Goose Green makes that hugely ironic.

This project - "Aurora" - has been off and on for years. That it should be news to anyone is what's really surprising. Unfortunately, freedom of the press doesn't come with a common sense clause.

Forget the planes, I want to know when the Transatlantic Tunnel will be built (never ever I know).

I only want it build so that I can travel by train from New York to Paris in 90 minutes, ala the Donald Fagen song I.G.Y.

An transatlantic tunnel? That will be traffic hell. Could a car even drive that far?

Don't worry, we'll put an Exxon station in at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.

The concept usually involves a train tunnel, with a maglev train, and a vacuum inside the tunnel. That way the train can go really really fast. Hopefully the breaks won't fail at the other end else it will go really really high.

Nice thing about a maglev train is that in principle you just have to cut power to get it to stop. Or better slowly turn the juice down.
