Isn't New Zealand treaty bound to Australia or England?

I said we had an honor agreement with them but no hard and fast treaty. Being nextdoor to one and a former colony of the other kind of forms a close bond.

Sounds funny but its true. You can't nuke someone who is going to do it right back. It just doesn't work, but they are a good deterrant and can be used if no one else has them.

So since both are members of NATO and NATO was specifically desgined to fight Russia incase of a Russian War don't you think your country is safer without the possibility of going to war with all your allies?

Is Austraila a member of NATO? I was sure it wasnt.

But if it did get to the stage of Russia attack full forse the whole world will be pulled in regardless but as that is so unlikely I dont really care.

yeah they are a member of NATO. I remember cause NATO is North Atlantic Treaty Organization and Australia is not in the north Atlantic so it kind of stuck out in my mind.

The only really official treaty we evere had appart from when we were with Britain was ANZUS (Australia New Zealand United States) But america cancelled their deal with us when we didnt let nuclear ships in our waters.

Australia and NZ are not NATO members. Australia is a NATO ally, (I'm not sure about NZ) and there are formal alliances between the US and Australia, as Teaos say the NZ/US part of that alliance, which took Austraila and NZ to Vietnam, is now void. I say good on New Zealand for sticking to their principles on nuclear powered ships. There are also links with other Pacific nations, and Australia, NZ and the UK are so close (I doubt that there is a single citizen of British descent in either of the three countries who doesn't have active family or friend relationships with a citizen in at least one of the other countries) that despite political and slight cultural differences if one was a genuine corner the others would weigh in, despite the fact that the formal treaty has lapsed. At least, I suspect that would be the case.
