No, but it is mildly upsetting that I may have to respect an Englishman about something.

"Pastor Arrested For Protesting Patriotism, IMO" would work better.

In fact...

Starting to get my point, now that it's a bit closer to home? He's protesting the use of demonic imagery. The precursors that have used that same epithet are irrelevant. I have read nothing that says that the high school used that nickname because of the fighter group, or in homage to it. While I think the guy is N-V-T-S for his carrying-on, I also think it has absolutely zero to do with the fighter group.
Bad examples. All of those are racist and bigoted; there were Native American "mascots" for fighter groups and squads, but none of those teams used those mascots. Thus, they have no inherent patriotic value.

There. Now the only actual problem is fixed.

The actual problem is you and your actions, of which have not been fixed.

I'm in the discussion, one to which you've openly ignored because it hasn't swung your way.

Really? I think we got sidetracked for a moment, but I haven't ignored anyone.
Deepcrush wrote:The problem continues that you are applying your own opinion of faith to another and then damning him for not agreeing with you. Since the United States of America is supposed to have a freedom of Religion, you are yourself acting unpatriotic by opposing his right to protest.
I didn't say I opposed his right to protest. I'm protesting his protest, by saying I believe it's unpatriotic to protest a symbol of American heroes.

I wouldn't protest the Lafayette Escadrille mascot, for example.

If you don't feel the guy was being unpatriotic, that's your opinion. I do.

To be unpatriotic would require him speaking against the country, he hasn't done that. There for, your opinion to which you posted on a forum to be discussed, is not only foolish but is in total error.

So, it's not unpatriotic to criticize a unit's mascot, as long as that's not the reason you're protesting it?

So, if someone's religion found the color red offensive, it wouldn't be unpatriotic for them to protest the flag?

I already gave the Apollo Program example; what about people who consider the eagle sacred to their religion? I think it would be unpatriotic for them to protest the Great Seal.

Again, it's my opinion.

No, because you're not protesting the unit or the country to which it serves.
Tsukiyumi wrote:So, if someone's religion found the color red offensive, it wouldn't be unpatriotic for them to protest the flag?
If they believe that it is wrong to represent blood and war through the flag then it is their duty as patriotic citizens to protest as such so long as they do not cause harm to others.
Tsukiyumi wrote:I already gave the Apollo Program example;
Yes, and it was meaningless for this thread.
Tsukiyumi wrote:what about people who consider the eagle sacred to their religion? I think it would be unpatriotic for them to protest the Great Seal.
And what if they aren't from this country? What if they have had the eagle as a sacred symbol for longer then the United States has used the Great Seal? How is it that you talk of someone being patriotic while at the same time you ignore the Bill of Rights?
Tsukiyumi wrote:Again, it's my opinion.
Which is good and fine though not something that should be used in a thread title or when you attempt to defend you opinion by stepping on a a Citizen's Rights.
