I just got an image of an unwashed woman in Tevas, cradling Aquaman in her lap and scrubbing him down with dish soap.

There was a fairly big oil Spill in Alaska. I heard Sand Sifters which are used to clean public beaches of cigs and trash actually clean oil too. If this is true that could save a lot of sandy beach coastline.

I could see that, as oil from slicks tends to form tar balls. That's pretty damned labor-intensive, though. The ones they use out here, at least, are small enough to be towed by an ATV.

Is anyone else thinking that the Senate/congress/whatever the heck they are called are just whipping BP's CO because...well they got no-one else to blame?

Honestly? No. I think they're whipping BP's CO because it was a BP well which exploded. Also, I suppose it's not too much of a whipping if a leading Republican senator
apologizes for the "20 billion dollar shakedown" Obama gave BP by saying they must help pay for clean up, or pay for the total clean up or whatever it was.

Perhaps its a degree of detachment, Perhaps it's a degree of cynicism on my part for...well just about everything, but it honestly seemed that they were being way OTT. I mean, I can understand that BP had a fuck up. And its a major environmental incident but...I dunno, it just seemed rather excessive, when hardly anyone knows the entire truth about it. I doubt the CO does much either.

The problem is, BP has been stalling. They've had thousands of ideas that would work submitted to them. They're response for every one is "it will cost too much". They just have been trying cheap idea's meant to save them money. And since money is all they care about, thats where they have to be hit.
On a related note, has anyone else noticed that gas prices have dropped slightly since the mess started?

True enough.
And you're a lucky bunch, ours have gone up to about $1.7 a litre.

BP is already on the hook for the entire cost of the clean up. The 20 Billion is a fun supposedly to aid those who are being impacted and can't work.
Yes Reliant, it is just grand standing. They don't really have anything useful to say or do, they just want to be in front of a camera looking tough.

I guess it's a galactic rule of life:
If there's no-one at fault, someone'll get wacked for it anyway.

I wouldn't say BP's not at fault, but the Congressmen are doing nothing productive by browbeating BP right now. They're just doing it to get their faces on camera.

I meant it more on an individual level, I hardly think the CO is entirely to blame for it. BP is definitely at fault, I agree on that.
Sucks for us. I think BP pay a considerable amount toward our pensions although I'm not entirely sure on that fault.
