And thus was it unlocked.

None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

What's great is that there's been flaming, dodging, bashing, racist comments and I wasn't even here to join in.

As I understand it the Israeli's offered to allow the supplies to get through if they did it Israel's way, with inspections and such to make sure there were no weapons. The blockade runners said no. This tells me that their interest is NOT in getting those supplies through, but specifically in breaking the blockade.

Me, I'd have done pretty much what was done. Although when I was attacked I'd have been sorely tempted to pull the troops out and torpedo the ship from a nice safe distance. Why risk your men if you don't have to?

No. Food and some meds may have gone through. But Israel would have blocked much of what they were carrying as contraband. Cement, generators, building materials, those sort of things. Presumably Israel does this to prevent Hamas from building bunkers and the like. But the effect that the humanitarians don't like is that it leaves the Palestinian "innocent civilians" without the ability to add or replace buildings or have power much of the time.

EDIT: Which isn't to say that their stated purpose wasn't to draw attention to the blockade. They knew that they'd be raided, detained, and that Israel would confiscate a large percentage of the "humanitarian supplies" they were bringing. They just planned to get a lot of drama out of it, filming the raid, railing about Israel taking some of the supplies. They wound up succeding probably beyond their wildest hopes in the near term with Egypt opening up its border. What I'm not sure about is if little miss fancy pants Irish nobel peace prize winner realized that she was sailing with homicidal martyrdom seekers.

So the point of the thread being how would you have done things differently so that you stop the contraband and maintain the blockade without causing an international outrage and getting bomb parts coming in from Egypt.

Hey, wild idea. What if the poor Palestinians helped to get rid of the fucking terrorists causing the problem?
