Well, you know the Pope is protected by a well-trained band of halberdiers. I don't think that's something that come up in basic training. :P

Well... that's being prepared.

Anyone know where I can find a copy of this movie?

I don't know where you can find a copy, but it was an amazing movie... The sequel was pretty good too.

US has plans to invade every country on the planet.
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

I've been wondering this since the scandal broke. Is there a way by which a pope can be removed?

He dies. He might also be able to abdicate, but I'm not sure.

I believe he can resign, but I've never heard of that happening. I don't think there's any method to impeach a pope, if that's what Mark means.

Wiki says there have been several, the last being Gregory XII six centuries ago

There is actually a tried and tested method.

Yeah, Catholic history isn't a specialization of mine, and six centuries does tend to take the newsworthiness out of a story.

Well, it's certainly removal, but IDK if I call it impeachment. I know you're just being English, but would it help if I said "sanctioned method?"

Oh, man, it's been years since I saw that movie.

Short of assassination or him resigning, I don't believe there's any mechanism in place to remove a Pope.

Remove the Pope? He's God's representative on Earth and when he speaks with the fancy party hat he is speaking as if he were God. Guess what message it would send if he was deposed.

That said, I've long wondered just how good the Swiss Guard are....

In open war, they'd get pwe'd. As a police force or as spec'ops, they're awesome!
