Look, McCain has made himself out to be "Mr. Bipatisan" and has actually done it most of the time. The point is when "Mr. Bipartisan" says "y'all screwed up, were leavin' ", the shit didn't just hit the fan, it sprayed all over the place. The Dem's. went way over the top with this one.

No, I understand what's going on and it's still just pitching a fit. Real leadership isn't just getting up and walking away complaining about how it can't work. They should be explaining what happened, explaining what their position is, and doing what they can to challenge or change it. instead they mumble something about a poisoned well and walk away. You can have a perfectly valid reason to be pissed and still be a little bitch about it.

Can we as a country give our representatives a "time out"?
They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.

I'd love to give them a piece of my mind... A shame I can't spare it. ;)

Again, that's why they should hire soundbite writers.

Either that or they figure it doesn't matter. I was curious as Rochey didn't provide a link. Looks like this spin on their quotes is from a blog. So maybe the GOPers figure people reading leftist blogs are a lost cause.

Still, occasionally it leaks over to where the swing voters are.

And now, while the threats against teh safety of left-leaning lawmakers and their families are obviously not tied to the GOP, it makes them look even worse in the eye of the public (who can't dissociate that connection without help.)

The best thing they could do there is jump out in front of things by denouncing the threats before the Dems can even respond to them.

They've already started... the concern here for the GOP isn't really their own stance, but the lack of the critical thinking by Joe Bag-o-donuts.

The GOP is lost right now. They aren't communicating with their base, not in the way they need to, and it's killing them. They need to get someone in leadership who knows how to communicate and start explaining what's going on. This is the reason the Dems lost in 2004, no real central message besides detesting the party in power.

Franky the way this bill has been muscled through should be fertile ground for them and yet they don't really use it. "Healthcare Reform," that does nothing to reform healthcare should be something they're smacking out of the park. They're just not doing it.

Not that I want to see a GOP majority, but that's exactly what I was getting at. This should be a virgin gold mine for them, and they're still too busy acting like a bunch of Steeles to take advantage.

I still say that Obama was probably one of the easiest to annihilate candidates I've ever seen and yet McCain never went for the knock out blow, seeming to try and engage Obama in a contest of personalities and charm. The GOP hasn't seemed to want to play hardball in a couple of years.

It's funny, because while it seems you're right when it comes to brass tacks, GOP leadership has lately seemed content to go for puerile-sounding attacks instead of policy for sound bites.

The impression I get from over here is that the GOP isn't pointing out about how useless a reform this really is because the majority of their supporters don't want any type of reform, thus saying that it didn't go far enough would backfire on them. Is there any truth to this?
