Just judging by the sheer number of engagements in which
Warspite was involved, much less instrumental, I'm firmly convinced that there were in fact 6 or 8
Warspites. ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

I rather thought the destroyer Johnston from Leyte Gulf was rather badass.

Agreed, a lone Destroyer that took on an entire Japanese fleet. Most telling to me is that the Japanese constantly referred to it as a heavy cruiser.

Survived more damage...then any ship in history. Beat that.

What about the
Franklin?
Though I agree with the general point that the Big-E was your answer to
Warspite.
Nope, Big Ben had some good fights but never matched the Enterprise.

Given how often the OVER SPOKE EVERYTHING, it doesn't shock me.

I'm talking about damage - Enterprise never came that close to sinking, or suffered such severe casualties.

Sorry, I wasn't speaking on damage but battle honors and awards of service.

In that respect there's no contest -
Warspite is the only ship that even comes close.

Pretty much. I feel both proud of and sorry for the crew of Big-E.
Proud that they served so well in such a hellish war.
Sorry that for whatever reason, they were always around whenever fighting broke out.

The most Freaking Awesome weapons system of all time : The Ohio class ballistic missile submarine.
Over 550 feet long, weighting over 18,000 tons, she can cruise silent and hidden beneath the seas for months at a time, and there's nothing on Earth that can find her. She carries these :
Twenty four Trident D-5 missiles. Each can be launched at any target within 7,000 miles of the submarine. Each can carry up to 12 nuclear warheads of 475 Kilotons each, meaning a single Ohio class can deliver 288 of these :
Right on top of the bad guys. A firepower greater than all of that ever expended in the history of warfare on this planet.
Awesome hardly begins to cover it.

I'd nominate the Canadian Corps at Vimy Ridge but they don't really count as a weapons, so instead I'll nominate the Lee Enfield Mk I-V. In service for 69 years, it's instantly recognizable as the weapon of the Commonwealth soldier for the entire first half of the 20th Century.

In a similar vein, I'd like to nominate the classic AK-47. Let's face it, is there really a more well known gun? Hell, it's even on the flag of some African country.

Mozambique
Also, in a similar vein to Kendall, there's the Land Pattern and India Pattern muskets - Brown Bess. The standard weapon of the British Army for over a century, and the weapon that won the Empire.

Doesn't take away from the
Johnston's badassness, though.
And even though he's a person, I think
Simo Hayha qualifies as freakin' awesome.
