I don't honestly understand how bars can still sell alcohol freely. At the least, they should have an hourly limit on drinks.

It's okay to drive your car out to a bar, and slam down 20 beers, and people are surprised when other people drive home drunk? :?

That's why I drink at home, personally. I'm practically a Nazi when it comes to drunk driving.

Wait, you've got free beer over there? No wonder so many Irish people emigrated to the US.

I said "freely", as in "without limit". Sure, they're supposed to cut people off if they think they're drunk, but I've seen a friend of mine order and consume two pitchers of beer and five shots inside of two minutes before closing time.

That doesn't mean they can sell it freely. If your friend did so and then hit somebody, the bar would be on the hook.

There's free beer in hospitals (Well i take that back since in our country you can go bankrupt for going to a hospital). All you have to do is drink some anti-freeze.

True. I guess I mean that they do sell it freely, and no one seems to crack down on it. Start at the source. If bars would adhere to some guidelines, the number of drunk driving accidents would drop dramatically, I'd wager.

Put like that, I agree completely. I myself have drank in bars to the point at which I (later) wondered why nobody asked me how I was getting home. Fortunately, I was still semi-conscious enough to not drive, but I very well could have stumbled out and got in my car.

Ah, right. Thought it sounded too good to be true.

I've said it to LH but I think a DUI should be treated as attempted murder. Choosing to get wasted and then get in a car is no different than playing Russian roulette with other people's lives against their will.
