What I meant by mental hospital was the kind with barred windows, concrete walls and with straight jackets everywhere. She hasnt really done enough to be locked up indefinately, Animal Cruelty, breaking and entering and criminal damage. The sentence over here would be...10-15 years? I reckon?

And her term in an institution could be as little as 6 months. It's time to stop letting these people absolve themselves of responsibility for their actions.

I'm still not convinced. There is no mental disorder of which I know that has as a symptom the uncontrollable motivation to bake a kitten to death. She might have a flattened affect, oppositional-defiance, or socipoathic tendencies, but none of those are legal defenses.

I quite agree with anything Mikey said here. The only treatment curing a heavy case of asshole is - like it or not - punishment.
How do you expect someone who burns kitten alive to take psychobabble thrown at them serious?

Abusing kids or animals does not sit well with me.

She's a sociopath. It's that simple. There's no cure for that, and they know full well what they're doing. Throw her in jail to rot.
