Good for you for not having diabetes - which weakens immune response - or young children. For some of us there is cause for concern. However, geographical limitations combined with typical public over-reaction make me less worried than I could be. Teaos - I'd bet you'd worry if it was the sheep flu. :P

Swine Flu: Pigs getting their revenge on humans.

It's hardly '28 Days Later' though is it? :)

I think the media is seriously over-hyping this. All of those that have died to date have been in Mexico. And, to put it bluntly, they're not exactly top of the "good hygine and health-care" list. Two infected people in Scotland (IIRC) have recovered okay. Until I start hearing of people dying in European countries despite access to hospitals, I'm not worrying too much.

ditto. Should this flu pop up here, I'd have access to medical facilities of an ilk simply not available in Mexico.
Words can not expess how little I worry about this. The mortality rate of this disease for anyone who is even remotly healthy is rather low. This is just SARS 2.0. All hype no substance.
my polite indignation knows no bounds!

I have to agree, its got a catchy name but its still the flu. With good medical care, heck even marginal medical care, the odds of dying to it are incredibly low.

As for their revenge. Tonight I fire back with a bacon wrapped pork tenderloin.

Indeed. Hell, even "normal" flu can kill you if you're not careful. This is really no different in this regard, other than amount of people killed in time.

Thw two odd things about this disease is that it was totally unexpected and it did hit a lot of people in there 20's who tend to do rather well against this sort of thing.

From what I've heard, it causes the immune system to over-react, causing damage and possible death to the victim. As such, people with stronger immune systems are ironicaly more succeptable to serious illness if they catch it.

Which happened with the Spanish Influenza. Younger people were more likely to die than older people. I'm a little worried cause of the response by the national government. Obama is smart enough not to cause undue panic and if he's releasing those stockpiles then something is up. Also its been like 90 years since we've had a world wide epidemic. We are well over due.

Ahh, guess I'm a bit overly sensitive.

We're overdue, but the last pandemic was only about thirty years ago, not ninety.
