Sorry, sorry. I was being sarcastic.
Really, I'm with Kendall on this: if they want continued aid, they should address human rights issues like this.
The presence of our military to kill terrorists has no bearing on it.

This is exactly why I have damn all hope for any good coming out of the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. Both are just going to end up as theocratic dictatorships, perhaps worse than they were originaly.

I agree; what I was referring to was the fact that the US reinforced the tribal, religious fundamental attitudes when it served our purpose against the Russkies. Now, we're in the compromising position of ssaying, "All that stuff we told you? Forget it or else."

What, we told them it was okay to keep women as pets, and kill people for disagreeing with the dominant religion?
We were wrong, and should just phrase it that way. We've made progress; they should as well.

Those guys went on to form A-Q, the Taliban are different guys and they don't get along very well. But just manning up and admitting we where wrong would go along way to proving that people can change.

No worries, I had to flip back to remember what we were talking about anyways.

Not in so many words, but sort of.

All true. All I'm saying is that we were all for looking the other way at those traditions when those guys were fighting
our enemies.

Of course, anyone who's been paying attention to the West since the end of WWII would know that. Personally, I'd rather just pull out and leave them be, no reward is worth this.

Leaving the easy joke there for Tsu and Mark to pick up, *ahem* I agree with you 100%. The reward for eventually "winning" over there is insignificant compared to the cost already paid, and the much greater cost it would take to acheive "victory."
