'idiotic' = OU
'primitive' = IU
without warp drive, i can't see the bird of prey crossing the neutral zone with the same crew, but then again am unsure exactly how big it is and thus how long it would take to traverse using impulse

I'm saying that the idea of the ship not having warp drive is idiotic - IU it obviously does, ergo it's hardly primitive.

The Neutral Zone is about two and a half ly wide (per "The Enemy"), so it would take at least two and a half years to cross, even assuming they could accelerate to 99% ish of c.

i always wanted an episode with refitted romulan birds of prey,perhaps almost on a par with their klingon equivalents, its my own bias emerging but really love the RSE

It couldn't have been a refit of the BoT BoP, but we've seen a great example of what a late 24th century Romulan BoP should look like, that would have been an excellent addition to the fleets of the Dominion War. Unfortunately it was in Enterprise. :x

....yes i looked on those with admiration and distaste that we couldn't have seen similar swatting jem hadar fighters or weaving between the d'deridex. i was going to be bone idle and just repaint green my old TOS ships but feel a bit of a fraud so now going to try to convert them, maybe resculpt the nacelles.
It just seems stupid when the other powers have an assortment of ships to limit the romulans so, am not a fan of how the computer games eg 'birth of the federation' or 'legacy' reuse the model from 'the defector' as a frigate or destroyer, and would rather a variation of the TOS BoP.

Look to older games like 'Klingon Academy' and they have something very similar to a refitted BOP called a "Centurion" class.

http://www.shipschematics.net/startrek/ ... pgrade.jpg this looks reasonable, just a case of resculpting, scratchbuilding or stealing from another vessel, the correct nacelles :-p

That looks pretty nice. I've always wondered what types of Warbirds they had during their battle with the E-C.

ditto, but my imagination is pretty feeble so i just envisioned something similar but less streamlined to the D'deridex lol, but wished had seen them in any episode esp Dominion War arcs, as the romulans like their rivals may still employ less than recently designed vessels all be it not using them for muscle flexing and intimidation exercises to avoid any signs of weakness, sentimental,technological or economical...

That and it wouldn't make much sense to send a battleship on police duty.

i dunno, the town in which i study is surrounded by waterways and the local street urchins seem pretty impervious to anything short of 16'' shells lol

:lol:

A division of troops would be a lot cheaper then a battleship.
