That would actually make a tremendous amount of sense. I'm somewhat sympathetic with the animal welfare movement, because there are horrible abuses that take place on factory farms, but I think PETA does more harm than good to their cause.

No doubt, I hate animal cruelty, until it interferes with the welfare of humans. The factory farm situation could easily be addressed through better techniques, but am I in favor of shutting them down if they don't change? No. I can't afford 200% increases in food prices. And, the concept of trying to make people take dozens of supplements to offset the nutrients meat provides is ridiculous.

As I like to say when people ask me, "you'd eat that?", I'll eat anything that walks, crawls, swims or flies, at least once.

I know - vegetarianism or veganism is going a bit overboard in my opinion. The worst thing is people who try to make their pets vegan too - cats were designed to eat an almost exclusively carnivorous diet.

Is it even possible to purposefully parody something as well as PETA does this? "There's nothing more dangerous (or..funny?) than someone who believes he's doing the right thing."

PETA reminds me of those "back to nature" nuts, that want to give up all of our modern tech. Even though that means most of them will be dead in less than a year from a lack of potable water or improperly cooked meat.

Right. A "vegan cat" would have a lifespan measured in months, if you didn't give it a bunch of expensive supplements.

Kendall - yeah, most people have no concept of how difficult it really is to live exclusively off of the land.

Unfortunately, I haven't outgrown the attitude of a 5-year old to food: I'm deeply suspicious of anything but the commonest and most basic of foods. (ironically, people in some far-away parts would find all manner of creepy crawlies as familiar as we find spaghetti. Chef Einstein-ardee's theory of Relativity, eh?)

I would honestly eat most insects, as long as they're cooked. If I don't like it, I don't have to eat it again.

I mean, I love lobster, crawfish, crab and shrimp, and they're all basically sea-arachnids.

I don't think they've really examined the consequences of the "no pet" thing. I for one do not care to be over run by feral cats and dogs, ammo is to expensive to waste on shooting feral dogs for one. Perhaps they should take a gander at Australia to see where their logic leads.
