I though the cop did realise who it was and thats why he was pulled over.

And it mentions the secret service guys too. I'm sure they would've helped "resolve" the situation.

They would've politely asked him to desist then one would have shouted "gun" and proceeded to fill him full of lead, and have Harrison Ford or Clint Eastwood tidy up the mess.
