The fact that J'Dan was allowed aboard the E-D in the first place, despite being a Romulan agent, shows there's some serious holes in their vetting procedures.

I agree that the security procedures are awful, but the question is: would J'Dan have been allowed to enroll in the Academy?

Maybe Starfleet thought that they could "fix" him.

Wouldn't surprise me if they thought they could.

Hey, I just thought of something. Couldn't Nog be a first officer already in our Daystrom timeline??? Ten years after the war, he'd only need two more promotions to be up for a job like that. How funny would that be???

If he is, I'm quietly arranging his death by malfuctioning airlock/transporter/shuttle/console/turbolift/holodeck.

Simply getting aboard a warship isn't that big a deal. I've been aboard several myself, never had to so much as give a name.

And which would these be?
Victory?
Belfast?

Since 9/11 I have been on 2 Active Warships, Halifax & Kingston, With Halifax they had my s4ervice record and such in hand before I even saw the ship and did a week long cruise with them. With HMCS Kingston it was an 'open house' type deal with a tour of the deck and Bridge, the tour litterally started with a Ventilation Pipe and went down hill from there, the guy didn't even know what acronyms stood for on the Bridge.
Before 9/11 I was given a private tour of HMCS Montreal and had the chance to go out for gunnery practice but I was too late and they couldn't make the change in their plans. I think I signed a register when I boarded but that was more about knowing how many people were on board in case of an emergency than anything else.

Wow. I'm guessing nobody got goosebumps then when CAPTAIN Nog, took command of the Defiant in that alternate timeline which featured old Jake Sisko.

Hey, maybe then at least we'd get a final descision on the state of currency in the federation.
