It doesnt matter if it is natural. It is going to screw us over and we need to stop it.

That's always been my opinion on it as well.

We can't even be sure that global warming isn't a normal part of the planet's weather cycle though.
Who cares, we need to save the species so it has to be stopped.

If it is natural that may mean we can't stop it.

Sure we can. It will just be a constant fight.
We kow many ways to cool the planet down, we just need to do them.

In a battle between us and the planet, I'd bet on the planet(except for the fact that I'd be dead and unable to collect).

We're a pretty remarkable species when pushed. If it is natural I still think we can win. Its a choice we have to make between the collapse of civilization or our continued survival.

We can't stop natural disasters, or even predict them. I don't see us winning a battle against an entire planet.

We can't stop natural disasters,
No, but we can lessen the damage they cause. And who knows what we'll be able to do in a few decades.
or even predict them.
Uh, wrong. We're able to predict all sorts of stuff. Hurricanes, tsunamis, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions (to some extent), etc.

I figure Global Warming is mostly natural and part of our planets natural cycle, but that our (humanties) actions and industries are aiding/accelerating/amplifiying it and we need to do what we can to alleviate the our effects.

@Blackstar We aren't litterally fighting the planet. It isn't like we're secretly living on Unicron. If we really wanted to drop the planet a few degrees there are things that could be done.
However the US isn't going to unilaterally take care of this one, and much of the rest of the world seems content to not do anything. Though luckily I think most countries are at least making some efforts to reign in pollution if only for local effects.
On the plus side many of us are in northern countries where, if the levies hold, this might actually be better on a warmer planet. Pure gains for Iowa really we'd get a longer and more reliable growing system and at over 1000 feet above sea level we aren't going to get inundated. The only worry would be if for some reason the amount of rainfall did something ridiculous.
Amusingly the middle east would get baked.......
Uh oh. Best not let the Bush administration hear that.......

Unless of course the huge amount of fresh water upsets the balance and throws us into an Ice age. Then Iowa will be under two and ahalf miles of ice.

My take on this... Global Warming is real, it's happening, we're causing it... and sorry folks, but we are not going to stop.
Our strategy will be to accept it and live with the consequences. Sea level to go up twenty feet? Well then we will rebuild the cities higher up. Millions of refugees? Well then leave them to manage as best they can. Mass species die-off? Too bad.
People just don't think long term. They never have, they never will IMO. And the people with the actual power, they think long term but only about their own personal long term. And Global Warming isn't going to do a damn thing to them. Bet your ass they are already working out ways to make money off of it.

If we were secretly living on Unicron we wouldn't know it would we, otherwise it wouldn't be secret would it?
