Damn you!
Re: Star Trek Online
Well if the ships are indeed for guilds than a DITL ship as opposed to individual ships would be better.
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

I'll take a Prometheus thank you.
There is not a problem in this world that can't be solved without the proper application of a sufficient number of thermonuclear ordnance.

UPDATE!!!
having watched an interview with some of the producers, basically you can make your character avatar from almost any species. Gorn, Romulan, Cardassian whatever. You clothe and design them all yourselves. i think you can even design your own species i believe i remember someone saying.
You start off in the academy of either the Klingon Empire or the Federation. You do all your training on Q'onos or In San Francisco. Blah blah blah. finish training. you are given a small vessel of which you take to the stars. Then your job..is to explore. You do so at your own free will. You can take missions from quest givers on loads of planets, but primarily your job is to explore.
now. On to the fun part. The ships.
As far as i am aware, there are three starship 'tiers'. Science, Engineering and Tactical. Each class is configured to its needs. The game will introduce LOADS of new designs for each class, but i believe some fo the old timer designs will still remain. Once you get your ship it is yours. Not starfleet, not Klingon, yours. You can modify it to your will. The possbilities for modification are immense. It could be as simple as respraying the outside blue. OR It could be a brand new weapons suite. Its up to you.
The planet exploration shall be huge. Its not just a small environment, its the galaxy. you can explore anywhere in it. You can visit any world or space station too. And explore planets and space stations at your leisure. You'll be able to visit old favourites like Q'onos and Vulcan, but some more obscure ones like Andoria, Bajor, Cardassia prime, Romulus. Its all up to you.
The reason its changed so much is the original maker, Perpetual collapsed. They went bankrupt. They released the programming to the current makers, but it was barely anything. The current producers have started completely from scratch, building from the ground up.

OH and, on this page of this website http://www.startrekonline.com/videos
there is a download of the gameplay trailor.
Theres a webcast there.
I've been listening and it seems that the time its taking to release is because they went through the episodes and the books AND the comics to get information about it. And they are trying not to infringe on canon AT ALL. i hope they manage it.
HAHA!!!! THEY ARE HAVING FLEETS!!! I SEE DITL FLEET ON THE HORIZON, OUR FLEETS BLASTING THE FUCK OUT OF THOSE ASSHOLE KLINGONS!
