Leaving aside the shitty animation and crappy music, my issue with it is:
  • Promotes a stereotype of woman that reinforces the already fucked up view in Japan and has spread it to North America.

Unrealistic depiction of anatomy, again this has lead to the otaku obsession with asian woman with tits of an impossible size.

Reinforces the belief that geeks (that being anyone who doesn't love beer, football and whores) are womanless losers in mom's basement.

The bizarre fascination with the barely legal look (or under legal).

    Bullshit internet memes.
I'm sure if I think harder I can come up with more.

As I see it, the common pedophilic bent, unrealistic image representation of females, etc., isn't the fault of anime in Japan; rather it's the cause of much anime being like it is. In other words, such anime exists because of the market which produces it, not the other way around.

And I agree that the more depraved stuff shouldn't even be made, but I suppose that's true of anything. And as Blackstar said, it doesn't have to be anime - any style of any media can be brilliant or can be sucktacular.

Kendall, you seem to be stereotyping the worst Anime has to offer. And most of that stuff can be applied to any genre. In fact most if not all of that stuff can also be applied to video games and movies. Do you want to ban all those too?

I love beer, anyways. Can't say I'm too fond of whores, though...

The bizarre fascination with the barely legal look (or under legal).
I always thought that that was because the legal age in Japan is a lot younger. 'Course, I've never looked into it, so I may be wrong.

According to wiki, when I last checked, age of consent is in japan 12. I don't know for the other things, but I believe they become adults at 18 as well.

I was an "adult" about six years before turning eighteen, but if you're referring to physical maturity, humans don't stop growing until about 20 for women, and 25 for men, so...

Look up "grown up" in the dictionary, it says: "mature". Look up mature, it says: "adult", look up adult, it says: "grown up". Interesting circle there. It has no meaning, beyond individual or cultural perception.

Meh, I like anime. Yeah, there's horrific stuff out there for it, but there's a lot of good anime too. As for unrealistic body types... ever see any Marvel/DC ladies?

No, I don't read or watch comic movies.

I'm talking about the comics themselves, Kendall. For a lot of them, oversexed vixen is the order of the day. Heck, Power Girlis most known for her two huge... tracts of land.

Yeah, even in DC most heroines/villainesses have.. large assets. And, im some cases, Marvel are even worse when it comes to showing it off - at least in Anime they're wearing semi normal clothes most of the time, while in western comics and cartoons, the main "offenders" are usually in skintight lycra/latex/rubber/ivy(!?)

I mean, jeeze, have you ever seen Marvel's Dagger? Her suits all holes, theres only ever half an inch of fabric covering anything x3

Also gives rise to one of my favorite quotes:

"Come to the dark side! Our chicks all wear skimpy leather!"

Meth was invented by the Japanese military in the early 20th century in order to allow their soldiers to remain alert, IIRC.

They have something called the art of the useless invention or something; I\d have loved to go through a catalog of those.

I'm fairly certain that it was Nazi Germany that created the stuff, though they may have shipped some to their allies. BTW, our modern Marine Corps still issues "pep-pills" - amphetamines, not methamphetamines, but still...
