Indeed, it only matters to canon whores and nitpickers. ST has needed a fresh start for a long time and if one of the things they do is ditch the ridiculous minimalism that was in the series, so much the better.

The mistakes aren't nearly enough nits to detract from the goodness of the movie.

He was probably just incorrect in his numbers.
That's my thought.
Then again, it would explain the 400 crew members on the Kelvin.

A 909 meter ship would have at least over a 1000 crewmembers.

IDK, someone got their numbers wrong, because that would mean it would need a lot more people than there were.

The interview was with the ILM guy in charge of the FX, if I recall correctly.

Besides, higher levels of automation means less crew requirements. Crew requirement for a future starship is speculative at best, anyways, unless a specific number is given.

OK, fair enough, it doesn't bother me enough to really care, the movie was still good.

I agree with that. I'd still like to know how big it's supposed to be.

And, how many phaser turrets it has, torpedo compliment, top speed...

and so on.

That would be nice to know, like a whole canon list of compliments etc.
