Eh, I'll just do a summary of the ship with full stats.
The military it was acquired from was the Laithan Stellar Navy.
Class:
Seabhac class
Type: Military gunship / transport
Dimensions:
Length: 26M
Height: 10M
Wingspan: 24M
Decks: 2
Crew: Normal crew of 6 (4 gunners, pilot, co-pilot), minimum crew of 1. Can carry up to 30 troops.
Armament: 4 twin barreled turreted assault cannons (2 on the forward fuselage, 1 on each wingtip), 2 beam cannons (1 on either side of and just below the cockpit, fixed in position and can only hit targets directly in front of the ship), 16 heavy duty fussion missiles (8 underslung on each wing).
Defence Systems: Standard shield system, 5.5 cm thick armour plating.
Warp Speed:
Normal cruise: 5
Maximum cruise: 6.2
Maximum rated: 6.9 for unknown amount of time (test ship destroyed, no further tests carried out)
The
Seabhac class gunship was originaly designed for use by the Laithan Army Airial Cavalry as a rapid moving ship designed to get from an orbiting ship to a planetary surface as quickly as possible. It's armament allowed it to clear landing zones of hostiles before dropping off it's cargo of troops and commencing strafing runs on targets of opertunity with it's missiles.
The design came to the attention of the Laithan Stellar Navy, who quickly put them to use in a gunship/boarding craft role. The ship's design allowed it to fulfill these roles with ease, and the ship proved to be capable of extended patrol missions. The
Seabhac became popular among pilots, soldiers, and naval officers alike for it's durability and considerable armament, and has become the most common troopship used by the Laithan military.
Capable of carrying two squads of troops safely into battle and then providing fire support, or capable of acting as a gunship in a dogfight or as a boarding craft against enemy ships, they can be found virtualy everywhere the Latihan Imperium has a military presence.
Like most Laithan ships, the vessel appears superficialy crude, hiding a suprising amount of punch and causing most hostiles to underestimate these vessels upon their first encounter with them.
The ship has two decks. The lower deck is divided into two parts; the forward hold, and the main hold.
The forward hold contains the main egress hatch; a ramp that lowers quickly, two of the assault cannon turrets are located on either side and just behind this and are capable of laying down covering fire for disembarking troops.
The main hold is seperated from the forward hold by a metal hatch, and is about twice as large. This hold contains rows of seats for troops to strap themselves into while the ship is in transit. There are two small hatches on either side of the main hold to assist in troop deployment, just forward of the wings. There is a weapons locker located to the rear starboard of the hold, with a ladder leading up to the upper deck in the forward starboard area.
The upper deck is divided into three parts: flight deck, maintanence, and crew area.
The flight deck is the cramped cockpit of the gunship, and contains six seats; for the pilot, co-pilot, and four gunners. In an emergencey, the ship is capable of being flown by a single person, with the ship's limited computer AI taking over the roles of the gunners.
Just to the rear of the flight deck, seperated by a metal hatch, is the maintanence area. This contains miscelaneous equipment in easy to reach areas, allowing for quick repairs to damaged systems. Various tools and equipment can also be found here, as well as the ladder that leads down to the lower deck.
To the very rear of the ship, just above the reactor and forward of the engines, is the crew area. This is to the rear of the maintanence area, seperated from it by a metal hatch. This is only used when the gunship is undertaking missions that leave it cut off from a mothership or base for large periods of time (days or weeks). The small area contains two bunk-beds, a small table, and a cabinet for storing rations.
