I know one gal won't use lube for that. She says it detracts from the experience.

Ok people lets tone it down a little, a passing comment here and there is fine but when you start getting into the mechanics of it your going to far.

I realized we never included people who served as ship support staff: Mot the Barber, the bartenders, etc. I bet you've got at least 50-100 non-Starfleet contractors on the ship.

I was thinking that. However, my guess is that there's not a lot of dirt on the Enterprise. We do see crewmembers get dirty on away missions, but perhaps there's some sort of ionization field that keeps dirt from sticking to the floors (notice we never see a carpet stain). But it makes sense for there to be some sort of automation. Similar to a sonic shower, perhaps?

Maybe that's what sonic showers are good for.

That's not true, actually. It was on QI as a 'contrary to popular belief' fact. Don't doubt the Fry.

That stuff still contributes a bit. Over time it'd build up.

Surely there's some type of built-in
The Sharper Image ionizer/filter, only it would be a...
wait for it...
QUANTUM filter!
