High Density armor instead of the Ablative armor. The Tholian webspinner would make sense since a Tholian is providing the vessel. It would also make it easier to capture an enemy in one-on-one engagements. Meaning that our more common enemys will attack en masse(governments and large pirate and other trouble making groups).
That seems more realistic for a ship crewed by a group of mercs and supplied by a criminal.
As for character creating, I'm not strict.
In that case, would there be any objections to me using a Laithan from my story?
But why the Xindi shuttle? It was captured by a Starfleet officer, and I doubt Rochey will just let me take it.
True, but I don't think Rochey was particularly planning on just letting you go, either. Also, there probably isn't much use for it on a Starfleet ship, so he might be alright with someone who's leaving the ship taking it.
As for the ship design, I think Jordanis' idea looks fairly good.

My design is meant to land, too, I should mention. There're supposed to be exterior cargo doors for all four bays. The only thing is, I'm not so sure about a shuttlebay. It would definitely be limited in scope, but I know how auxiliary craft are such a useful plot device, so there ought to be something, but I'm not sure where to fit it yet. If nothing else, a ship designed to use primitive facilities like this one is should have its own cargo handlers and a place to store them.

Well, if necessary we can always modify one of the cargo modules into a shuttlebay. I think we'll need one, anyway. We have Blackstar's shuttle, Talora's, possibly a Xindi shuttle, and I was thinking of having one myself for reasons that will become obvious when I post my character's bio.

I'm going to want dimensions of everything that's supposed to fit into the shuttlebay, so I know how big it needs to be.

So I guess were not going with the miranda then.

Jordanis, Minnsky... Hehe, those look awsome o.o I particularly like Minnsky's design 1, 2, 45 and 5. Hehe.
Oh, by the way, i had a thought. Seeing as i doubt blackie has vast amounts of funds avaliable to buy a custom working spaceship straight after the events on Daystrom... maybe the ship could be mortaged either to a interplanetary supercorperation... or a wealthy investor, or at least in an agreement where it has to run missions for it's benefactor from time to time in exchange for pulled strings or cool stuff. Because, Mercinary jobs get big payoffs, but you've also got to consider that youve got to pay for the ship, the crew, fuel, supplies, weapons, uniforms (if any)... And it also gives the opportunity for one character to be sent by the mortgager to keep an eye on their investment, as well as giving someone other than the captain for the crew to hate if their pay is cut.
... and this has nothing to do with the fact that my character is high ranking in a shady trade corporation that might make such an offer. Nope. Heheh.
Sorry i keep going off in tangients, its kind of what i do >.> Though, is the ship going to use replicator technology, or use freezepacked food? I dont know how widley dispersed replicator technology is at this point in the continuity...

Blackstar's associate is constructing a full size vessel. We are having a debate as to the Design.
PS: Good designs Minnsky. Especially like Designs 2 & 3. 3 is a little angular and 2 is....unusual.. Jordanis, your design is good but I personally dont like the Staggered curvey bits near the bow. I think the bow should be shorter and more rounded.

I think Thrall, one of Blackstar's associates, owed hir the ship anyway. So although shi may be off the hook for paying for the ship itself, I think the rest of the crew will be wanting to make sure they get paid.

Heh, thats a point. I guess that my earlier suggestion is kind of irellevant, then =P
Besides, if shi's good at drinking games and poker or something, shi might be able to make even more people owe hir one anyway. Kekeke.

thank you for the comments.
Jordanis got a point about landing. 1 and 2 have landing struts on it already, 3 and 5 could have them. the others are screwed. lol
I dont ether.....though my dude will.
I would guess that payment comes after jobs. so the crew would be more worried about getting a good job up front.
And fule....is Blakies pal fuleing it for us?

I'm sure that fuel and other overhead expenses are coming off the top, before any distributions from any payoffs are made.
At least, if it were my ship, nobody would get paid until the tanks are filled.
As far as a "lien" on the ship, that's up to Blackstar. Maybe the ship was overpayment for what Thrall owed hir, and now she owes him some services or stake; maybe not. That depends on what backstory shi had in place for the origination of his debt.

I don't have a problem with Rochey being a Laithan, except I have no clue what one is.
Jordanis, could you fit a shuttlebay into the bow of the ship, or maybe even have it run the full length of the ship like the Akiras? It'll make any by-shuttle cargo transfers go more quickly with faster launches and recoverys. A forward bay help with partially compensating for the lack of missles, by using the missle systems on the auxilery craft(seems like a tactic a group of mercenaries would improvise). An aft direction will also let us add more missles if shooting at a ship in pursuit of us, discouraging a pursuit.
The Chakat's Dream is roughly 35 meters long and 18 meters wide, and 6 meters tall. (You said you would need size of the craft)
If not, I do like Minnsky's designs #'s 3,4, and 5. 4 is my favority of Minnsky's designs but the ability to land is useful for a cargo-hauler trying to move cargo quickly, but if that's not as much of an issue as I'm worried about then it might be workable.
And Chakats are naturally good at drinking games, because the species was designed to be resistant to poisens. It has a negative side-effect of drugs needing to be administered in higher doses. But since I'm the only Chakat in this universe no one will know...other then my doctor.

More than you could possibly be interested in knowing about my fictional species.
They're a race I thought up to be the primary antagonists for my Trek
story. I have pretty much everything about them worked out, more so than the other races I created for a different story, so at least I wont have to fill in gaps in what we know about them, as we'd have to do for most Trek races.
or maybe even have it run the full length of the ship like the Akiras? It'll make any by-shuttle cargo transfers go more quickly with faster launches and recoverys. An aft direction will also let us add more missles if shooting at a ship in pursuit of us, discouraging a pursuit.
A bay running the full length of the ship with entrances at both ends (If that's what you mean, that is) would also have the advantage of having a second entrance in case one of the bay doors gets knocked out of commision.
The Chakat's Dream is roughly 35 meters long and 18 meters wide, and 6 meters tall. (You said you would need size of the craft)
I'll work out some dimensions for my own ship in a little while.
Assuming Talora's ship is just a generic Romulan shuttle, the dimensions would be:
Length : 24.23 m
Beam : 15.98 m
Height : 6.57 m
Decks: 1
There're no Xindi Insectoid shuttles listed, but we could take the Assault Ship as a rough estimate.
Length : 17 m
Beam : 3.4 m
Height (spike down) : 4.8 m
Decks: 1
Alternatively, we could use the Primate Shuttle, which may make more sense to use:
Length : 40 m
Beam : 8 m
Height : 13 m
Decks : 2
