Interesting...I know a lot of people here have fairly low hopes, but if I can get into the open beta I might give it a go. not that I really understand beta testing much

Pre-orders are up, with a number of interesting benefits for those who pre-order such as exclusive access to the open beta AND a 3 day headstart over the main release of the game.

Personally, I'm gonna give this ago. I think it might be a little bit trample on trek but I dont mind if i enjoy it in the long run.

3 Day head start is kind of interesting. In the long run it doesn't mean jack but... well actually in the short run its unlikely to mean jack either unless you are set up to play it 72 hours straight once you get it and that's assuming the launch isn't a total clusterfuck.

The open beta stage has me interested. It starts 2 weeks ahead of the game release, and once you get a retail copy your beta character is transferred over to the retail copy. That could be quite a significant difference. Theres a number of items you can choose from by pre-ordering, like when you make your first level up you can choose to have a special, original Constitution instead of the standard "starter ship" Miranda; or you can have a permanent Borg bridge officer; or you can have a TR-116 rifle.

Customization is a curious one. I was looking into the philosophy of customizing your ship and I think it could be...interesting. Basically you can change the aesthetic look of a ship, while keeping the basic shape. Say I took...A GCS for instance. I could elect to use a hull material like in ENT with the Nacelles from an Excelsior for example. Or if i took an Intrepid, I could paint it like a TOS ship with the nacelles from a sovereign...I like the idea, i just think it might produce some rather...odd looking vessels.

Unless the permanent Borg bridge officer looks like Seven of Nine I'm not interested.

I wonder if you can download a skin for it. :happydevil:

If it's a skin it doesn't matter who you slap it on unless the Borg officer gives you some stat bonuses.

If you can paint your ship all black with a sharks mouth on the hull...I might pick it up.

I dunno, after seeing the abortions they were passing off as ships I need a lot of convincing.

Ever played WoW? Comparisons to that would be helpful to me.

I haven't, the closest i've played is Guild Wars.

Guild Wars is a more relaxed version of WoW.
