Florida principle goes on anti-gay witch hunt
Re: Florida principle goes on anti-gay witch hunt
As a Christian, I feel I must cast the first stone. David Davis is a bitch and should not be allowed around children, lest he corrupt minors with his bitchery. Thank you, God Bless.

Or at the very least, "reeducated".Reliant121 wrote:me,myself and I wrote: I apologize for my language, I hope you all can tell the above paragraph was sarcasm and I believe most of the ignorant homophobes (and most KKK members/Skinheads/American Nazis) should be taken out and shot.
If you can't tell, things like this piss me off.

"But it doesn't have to happen again. Not if we make up our minds to change. Take a different path. Right here, right now."

Jesus also taught to love thy neighbor, not convert them by the sword, burn people at the stake, or explore choir boys.Mikey wrote:I can't believe that this happened in a state governed by a Bush.
BTW - I'm not a Christian, but I thought attacking and humiliating others was kind of the opposite of what Jesus was trying to tell everyone. What do I know?

Not quite...
Jesus wrote:Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's enemies will be the members of his household.

And people wonder why I avoid religion. It's confusing

Well that does seem to be how things are working out. New tolerant generation vs. old intolerant one. Perhaps the sword he speaks of is not the metal violent kind, but just your metaphorical kind?Captain Seafort wrote:Not quite...

BTW: Where is that from? Chapter and Verse preferably.

Matthew 10:34 I believe.
Give a man a fire, and you keep him warm for a day. SET a man on fire, and you will keep him warm for the rest of his life...

Re: Florida principle goes on anti-gay witch hunt
I think it seems to speak more to "new INtolerant generations vs. old intolerant generation."
How do the gospels reconcile that sort of thing with the whole "turn the other cheek" philosophy? Not like the gospels agree with each other, or anything...

They don't. There's no attampt what so ever in the bible to reconcile any of it's contradictions. One of the reasons why the various sects have to pick and choose what to follow. A friend of mine gave me a piece of advice he got from a priest once:Mikey wrote:I think it seems to speak more to "new INtolerant generations vs. old intolerant generation."

"The priest tells you what he thinks the bible says but it's up to you to determine if it's true. Find two verses from the OT and one from the NT to back it up or vice versa. Don't believe everything he says just because he's a priest, it's up to you to interpret it."

I mean, two different gospels disagree with things as simple as the place of Jesus' birth. These guys really should have gotten together, or set down a writer's bible, or something.

They sort of did, the Catholics held various councils during the middle ages to decide what exactly they should keep and what should be tossed from the bible. Keep in mind that it wasn't done to make sense out of anything, no one but them could read at the time anyways. It was done to secure power.Mikey wrote:I mean, two different gospels disagree with things as simple as the place of Jesus' birth. There's a good book if your curious about the writing of the bible, which looks at just the first five books of the text (which I beleive Jews also use) called Who Wrote The Bible, authors name is Richard Elliott Friedman. The book is an interesting look at how the first portion was written and by who.

Re: Florida principle goes on anti-gay witch hunt
I actually think I read that sometime a while back. I understand about the "editing" of the Bible at Nicaea, and more importantly the deliberate misinterpretation of the Vulgate by St. Jerome, but these are two fo the four gospels - which purport to account Jesus' life - and they can't even agree on the place of his birth?!
