Sins of a solar empire

Post by Reliant121 »

Has anyone else played this? If your a Sci-fi strategy gamer, this is the game for you.

It's graphic quality is pretty good, the playability is excellant. I could literally be glued to the computer for hours playing this.

Basically, its 4x Empire building. there are three factions:

TEC: Trade emergency coalition. A human alliance of worlds based on trade. The Emergency coalition is the military branch

Advent: 1000 years ago, A TEC colony was found to practice "Unacceptably" weird religious ceremonies. The TEC expelled them from their world. Advent are the descendants and they want revenge.

Vasari: A race of agressive people. 10,000 years ago they controlled a countless empire, spanning millions of star systems and planets. Then...one by one the worlds went dark. Silenced. They sent in a flotilla from the infamous Black fleet, the only Vasari fleet remaining. Only one battleship returned, literally falling apart, its crew insane with fear. The Vasari began a mass fleeing of their worlds. now they have reached TEC space.

You have to colonize planets and asteroids, seperated by Phase points (the FTL travel) and build your empire.

What i like, is it is quite slow and relaxed. A small map can literally last 6-8 hours. I am a strategist at heart, i dont like masses of fast paced action. This is the game for me. i Build a massive Advent fleet, and blow the hell out of everything i see.

It certainly looks pretty. Is it strictly strategy, or does it alternate with "shooter" mode? Turn-based?

No turn based. No shooter. You build ships and send them to blow things up.

Hmm, I may check to see if any local shops have it.

Looks really cool. I'm not a big gamer, but I like that style and it really is good-looking.

Each race has its own style.

TEC: not advanced. uses tough armoured ships. fairly balanced.

Advent: Weak hull, strong shields and advanced laser/plasma weaponry. Cheap and in large numbers

Vasari: expensive, powerful ships. Use phase weaponry. Very strong hull but few in number.

Its on my list of things to buy. One of these days I'll find a true substitute for Homeworld.

None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Oh, I like this. Sounds very fun. They need more Space Based games. A B5 game would be great!
