As if it wasn't bad enough, they were planning to kill Spock. Who the hell wrote that movie.Tsukiyumi wrote:They never mentioned his death in canon.thelordharry wrote:Hang on a minute, won't he be back for ST XI??? anymore hard questions
I heard about some cut dialog from Nemesis that mentioned Spock dying on Romulus, but that doesn't count because a) it was cut, and b) killing a beloved main character off-screen in throwaway dialog in NEMESIS would be retarded.

They were certainly planning to do that in "Face of the Enemy" (and decided against it on the exact grounds that "you can't kill off someone like Spock off-screen), but this is the first time I've heard such a rumour regarding Nemesis.

I've no idea where I even heard it; maybe on here somewhere. Maybe I'm mistaken. Either way, the idea is dumb, and Spock is still alive in canon.

Good. If he died in Nemesis that would have vbeen the biggest dishonour possible for a trek actor. It was such a damned shame Data had to go.

IIRC they wanted Nimoy to appear in NEM but he refused after reading the script, he does tend to disassociate himself from crap Trek.Tsukiyumi wrote:I've no idea where I even heard it; maybe on here somewhere. Maybe I'm mistaken. Either way, the idea is dumb, and Spock is still alive in canon.

You'd think the fact that Leonard freaking Nimoy said that the script was so bad he refused to appear in it would give the wirters a hint.

I wonder if Brent Spiner had anything to do with this? I recall reading somewhere that he said something along the lines of "I shouldn't play Data anymore because I'm too old" and obviously, it looks a bit daft to have an ageing android, especially as there are a few times in the TNG series when he (Data) mentions that he doesn't age...............unless of course, old 'often wrong' Soong was THAT good that he could also build androids that age as well!Reliant121 wrote:Good. I guess it matters not. I think we've seen the last of TNG forever now anyway.

Quiet you; unless you want them to recast TNG in ten or twenty years...thelordharry wrote:I guess it matters not. I think we've seen the last of TNG forever now anyway.

Yeah, time for Picard and co to hit the retirement home.

Yeah, but to go out with a whimper like that just blows! Undiscovered Country was a great movie to boot, and everybody got to have their autographs on screen for the closing credits - that's going out with style. Nemesis just... *sigh*

I agree, but my hopes for a decent TNG movie are now almost non existant.

Hey! I liked Nemesis! (And Before you start, read-->) And no, not just for the pretty explosions.
