You know, for a series that supposedly likes to push boundries, they're extremely cautious not to actualy do so.

Unfortunately, they still have to sell the commercial time.Rochey wrote:You know, for a series that supposedly likes to push boundries, they're extremely cautious not to actualy do so.

OOH! The Doctor! How has he gotten so little love in this thread?

TOS pushed boundaries. TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise never did.Rochey wrote:You know, for a series that supposedly likes to push boundries, they're extremely cautious not to actualy do so.
Hell, Enterprise's idea of a controversial episode was to do an AIDS analogue with "Stigma". A real controversial move... if they had done it in TNG season 1 back n 1987. In 2003 "AIDS victims are human too" is about as controversial a message as "don't be cruel to puppies".

Indeed. They don't so much as push boundaries than walk up to them, point and talk about them for a minute and then fly off into the sunset and hit the Reset Button.

It's so annoying when you look at what Joss was doing on Buffy with Willow and Tara. Meanwhile Enterprise's view of sexuality was that people would lube one another up in the decontamination room.

That wasn't an exploration of sexuality - it was a ratings ploy, or an attempt at distraction from the actual quality of the show.GrahamKennedy wrote:It's so annoying when you look at what Joss was doing on Buffy with Willow and Tara. Yes, and in typical Enterprise fashion, a poor quality one.Mikey wrote:That wasn't an exploration of sexuality - it was a ratings ploy, or an attempt at distraction from the actual quality of the show.GrahamKennedy wrote:It's so annoying when you look at what Joss was doing on Buffy with Willow and Tara. It wasn't an exploration of sexuality, but it was a view of it. An attitude towards it. And it was not a good one.Mikey wrote:That wasn't an exploration of sexuality - it was a ratings ploy, or an attempt at distraction from the actual quality of the show.GrahamKennedy wrote:It's so annoying when you look at what Joss was doing on Buffy with Willow and Tara.
