After watching 'Arena', I gotta agree that the Gorn seemed like legit badasses. Ships that could take on the best Starfleet had, could go as fast as them, too. Locking onto Spock's tricorder and overloading it was sheer brilliance, and the Gorn Captain almost killed Kirk himself.

There's nothing to say they aren't, their tech certainly seems on a par with the Federation in TOS from what we see - ships about as fast as the Enterprise, weapons "like phasers only worse", though their bombardment weapon used at the base sucked ass compared to what Kirk fired back! I kept hoping TNG or DS9 would make a big deal of them, they would have filled the role of the Cardassians or Breen nicely.

I guess Gorn are too expensive and/or "man in rubber suit looking" to use a lot, though.
I also wanted the Gorn to be a big power. Since seeing Arena, I have been enamored of those space reptiles. They're technologically advanced, and are predatory in nature. The Gorn Captain was certainly a civilized lizard, trying to negotiate a quick death with Kirk. I always wondered what that ship that can match the Federation's speed wouls look like. Would it look like a Gorn - big and overpowering, but lacking maneuverability?

Looking at the supposed CGI ship that was meant to be inserted in the TOS Remastered DVD, I don't know what to think.

I expected a box with nacelles. This looks graceful and complex.

I dig it.

I don't like the long thin tail. I'd have preferred something more bulky there.

It reminds me of something but I cant recall what.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

For me it looks like a ship from the Frankestein fleet...

Actually, with the cruciform design and tapering aft section, it reminds me vaguely of a Cardassian ship... which is possibly not a coincidence, with the Cardassians' supposed reptilian ancestry.

Nice ship. Not great, but nice.

I wasn't thinking of it, but you're right. Just set it so it sits on its bow.

I hate that ship (the last starfighter). What a piece of crap! Wank it a bit more and you might just go blind.

You didn't even like it when it went into "carnival-ride/mechanical-bull/vom-in-your-ox-mask" mode? :P
