The BS that counts for ship design!
Connie = good
Excelsior = good
Miranda = good
Nebula = good
Akira = good
Defiant = good
BoP = good
Vor'cha = good
Negh'var = good
But how many bad ones have we seen? fifty to a hundred I'd say. Its total bull****. C-4 in panels across the ship. Use of plasma instead of eletric power so that anything burns out it also kills the person using it.

I second the inexplicable array of different Fed ship designs v. the scarcity of different designs among other races. I also agree with having battle damage occur to areas that are in no way related to the location that's been hit. The lack of understanding of simple tactics, although I can sort of overlook this as OOU it's based on storytelling purposes.
Lack of consistency/continuity is what really irks me. Most of the seasons 1 and 2 of ENT; VOY turning the Borg "big bad" into the Borg "angry kitten;" etc.

Shield "bleedthrough" was the first topic I posted a thread about on DITL, and unrelated damage is a related area.Mikey wrote:I second the inexplicable array of different Fed ship designs v. the scarcity of different designs among other races. How about the growing tendency to solve [tech] through [tech] by [teching] some kind of [tech]?

Well said. As is becoming almost painfully obvious, I am once again forced to say:Captain Picard's Hair wrote:How about the growing tendency to solve [tech] through [tech] by [teching] some kind of [tech]?

If you can tie in a techy solution to a real story in some way, that's one thing, but technobabble shouldn't be a story in itself.

"Butt-crack-on-head" aliens. I know make-up is expensive and time consuming, but maybe have less consoles blowing up and there will be some cash for something besides head cracks/ridges/bony protrusions.

Yes, but one big blue thing with a hominid shape has its genitals on its knees!Nutso wrote:"Butt-crack-on-head" aliens. I know make-up is expensive and time consuming, but maybe have less consoles blowing up and there will be some cash for something besides head cracks/ridges/bony protrusions.
How exactly does this make sense? Just think of the number of times you bang your knee into something, for the Wormhole's sake! This species can't possibly be symmetrical - women growing babies on their knees? How does this thing copulate?
I'm not angry like I may sound, just really confused, in case you're wondering.

I think it'd be easier to list stuff in TNG+ era Trek that doesn't annoy the hell out of me.

And this board wouldn't be half of what it is without Rochey spewing violence towards Trek incompetence.Rochey wrote:I think it'd be easier to list stuff in TNG+ era Trek that doesn't annoy the hell out of me.
